How often should you exfoliate?
- 2 min reading time
There are two types of scrubs, one for your body and one for your face. Both scrubs have a different composition and are therefore used for a different purpose. You should never use a scrub for your body for your face because these grains are too coarse and therefore you damage your face. So always use a scrub that is specifically for your face!
But now the big question: how often should you scrub? I'll gladly tell you below!
Scrubbing face
Did you know that your skin cells renew themselves regularly? Every 28 days your skin renews itself and so you have a new skin, so to speak! With a scrub you remove dead skin cells but if you do this too often then you are continuously removing your ''new'' skin. That is why we advise not to scrub too often, a healthy skin has enough with scrubbing once a week. A dry skin is best scrubbed only once a month and an oily skin is best scrubbed once or twice a week.
As you can read, each skin type needs different care. Are you not sure what skin type you have? Then read this blog , where we will gladly explain it to you.
Body scrub
For your body, the same applies as above. Every body is different and every body has different needs. Keep the same rules for your body:
- healthy skin: scrub once a week
- dry skin: scrub once a month
- oily skin: scrub 1 to 2 times a week
At Boozyshop we have plenty of scrubs to choose from, view our range here .
How do you use a scrub?
Wet your skin with lukewarm water, gently massage the scrub onto your skin with circular movements. Focus on the dry parts of your body such as knees, elbows and heels. The sides of your arms are also important to scrub well. Away with those dead skin cells! Then rinse your skin and you will immediately notice the difference.
Which scrub should I use?
There are many different scrubs for sale. It is important to choose a scrub based on shea butter for dry skin. Your skin will become wonderfully soft from this. Note! Only use a scrub for your face that is specifically intended for this purpose. A scrub that you use on your body is too coarse for your face and can irritate your skin.
Aftercare
After scrubbing, your skin can use some love, so use a nice moisturizer for your face and a body butter or body lotion for your body. This way, your freshly scrubbed skin will remain well cared for and wonderfully soft.
